So the Offspring got back from Europe last week after playing a final show in Madrid to about 45,000 people. They landed on Sunday evening and Dexter was gung ho to get things moving the next morning. Proof that hard work pays off. Homeboy never stops doing shit.

Anyway, his web designer is honing in a bade ace new website for GB and we’re going to begin implementing a whole bunch of cool interactive ideas to reward fans of the sauce with prizes for doing things like sending us recipes, photos, clicking on links, telling their friends to like our facebook page, giving good Yelp reviews of restaurants that carry our sauce yadda yadda yadda..

We’re really looking forward to connecting with the friends of the sauce more and more as each day goes by and there are so many rad opportunites that sites like Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr will open up for us… combine that with a sweet new website that accounts for individual’s actions and linking and we’re gonna be the fanciest pantsiest tech savvy hot sauce company this side of the Mississip.

We’ve been in a slew of meetings as of late and are thinking big for the rest of this year.

Be on the lookout friendos! The new Private Reserve will be announced in a couple a few……

What's good and what's going on in our world

Wellp, I guess I should begin somewhere, here we are at the end of August and it’s been a hell of year so far.

Since 2011 began, we have expanded quite a bit, but obviously want to grow more and more and more. We are currently in Albertsons, Food 4 Less, Stater Brothers, Gelsons, Whole Foods, Mother’s Market, Las Golondrinas, and a slew of mom and pop shops from San Francisco to San Diego to Las Vegas.

We had a pretty bitchin taco eating contest at the beginning of this month which put on in partnereship with Takeru Kobayashi (the world famous hot dog eating champ). We’re hoping it grows to become the next big thing out here and blossoms into an ESPN par event :o)

Our homies over at Chronic Tacos have been ordering more and more sauce lately as they blow up all over the place. They went from 4 stores about 5 years ago to over 40! We’re stoked to have them as pals!

Same goes for our friends at Wahoo’s Fish Taco. They’ve been helping keep our little engine that could chug along since day one and because we still hand deliver all of their orders, I’ve grown to really enjoy bringing them sauce, shooting the breeze with the staff and checking out all the rad action sportsy stuff they have shelacked on their walls. Those guys KNOW marketing, and they know what a sweet mullet looks like too, Ed, their marketing guru has one of the most fantastic hairdos I’ve ever encountered.

As the year rolls on, I’ll be keeping a daily or at least semi daily blog here and also posting cool stuff I find along the way.. some which will be hot sauce relevant and some of which will have absolutely zero relevancy whatsoever.

Right now Dexter (the bossman) and The Offspring are on tour in Europe, no doubt testing out some their new songs and having a grand ole time. I report to him almost daily and let him know the haps in my hot sauce world so he can tell me what he wants me to do and how he wants to steer the company.

I met with the buyer at Stater Brothers yesterday at their HQ in San Bernadino. They have had us on their shelves now for about 4 months and this was the first time I got to meet the man that decided to put us on their shelves. I was really impressed when he told me the reason he decided to carry us was because of some good old fashioned customer requests at a few stores in San Diego. I love that in this day and age old school tactics like that can still work in a major supermarket environment. Believe me, I’ve been to many meetings with large and even small supermarket chains and the bottom line boiled down to how much money were we going to give them to allow us to grace their shelves.

We’ve done pretty well on our own shaking hands and kissing babies though as time has gone by and never had to go for broke to get our product out there just yet, but growing pains are always a consideration (how many orders can we handle, is it worth it for us to buy our way in to a specific chain, how are we going to make sure our product sells well in a new market, how are we going to be able to maintain that friendly ‘Mayberry’ sort of customer service where we know peoples names and they know ours as we get bigger and have more orders to meet.)

It’s been a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to thinking of cool new ways to get the name out there. (stickering signs is always fun, but it’s even more fun when you think of weird new ways to get folks talking about your product like contests, cross promotions, and silly youtube videos)

The Offspring web designer has some brilliant ideas for the future and I can’t wait to tell you all about the up and coming things. We’re going to roll out a new web site, a rad loyalty program, and a bunch of sweet interactive ideas as well in the month to come.
